“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve . .
Mark 10:45
Susan and I wish to thank each of you for your prayers, food, cards, and other acts of kindness these past weeks and months. We know we could find no better church family any- where. It is good to be back among you. I want to also commend the deacons, especially the chair, Eddie Wingfield, for carrying the load
of pastor during my absences. It is good to see that the church is faithful in its calling.
The Property Committee, with the help of Sharon Reeves, has been hard at work getting all our restrooms remodeled. They sure look good. Projects like this always look easier than they turn out to be. This was no exception.
Thanksgiving is rapidly approaching. It is a great time to get together with family and share what you are thankful for this year. I encourage you to do that with your church family during your Sunday School classes, as well as with blood related family on Thanksgiving. We certainly can’t thank God enough for the blessings that are continuously bestowed upon us. We can also thank one another for the blessing we are to each other.
I know the economy, or lack thereof, has affected every- one. This is especially true for those on fixed or reduced in- comes. However; we want to do what we can to ease this impact on our missionaries around the world. You can help by giving to Global Missions or Lottie Moon during December. One way to do that is send your Christmas cards to regular attendees through the WMU post office. This will only cost you $0.15 per card. This way you save money while giving to missions. A definite win/win situation.
This January I will offer a Bible Study centered around the book The Shack by Wm. Paul Young. This will be a bit different as Bible studies go. The Shack is a work of fiction, but it makes us think about our theology. You will enjoy the story and be left wondering about your beliefs. We will discuss whether we agree or disagree with the author as well as see what the Scriptures have to say, if anything. It will be offered several times during the week so you can find a time convenient for you.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Your fellow servant in Christ,
